WASHING
Before you get your hair wet, brush thoroughly starting at the ends and working your way up— support the base of your wefts while you brush. If there’s a tangle or knot, it will only get worse while you wash so make sure your wefts are tangle free before getting in the shower.
- Don’t neglect your scalp — massage the VERB scalp cleansing oil in before getting in the shower to remove any product build up.
Wash your hair with warm water and the recommended shampoo. Run the pads of your fingers in-between your rows and then gently shimmy the shampoo down your wefts. Don’t rub the ends together too much as that can cause tangles.
Rinse the shampoo out completely - make sure the tops of your wefts are completely cleansed. Separate your rows to rinse if necessary. Repeat wash 1-2 times until shampoo lathers easily and your hair is completely clean.
Apply your Iles Formula mask and let sit for a few minutes.
Rinse and then apply conditioner throughout. For extra love - keep a brush in your shower and gently brush the conditioner through the extensions to ensure even saturation and get rid of any tangles.
Please make sure you have enough time to complete this process thoroughly.
I recommend washing 1-3 times a week.
DRYING
Gently squeeze the excess water from your hair before getting out of the shower. Then, gently squeeze dry with a towel until your hair is damp and no longer soaking wet. We recommend using a microfiber towel.
Apply recommended leave-in treatments, then gently detangle your hair with a detangling brush. Always hold your hair in place with one hand at the installation point and carefully brush with the other hand.
You can let your hair air dry completely, or blow dry.
- If you choose to blow dry, smoothly dry your hair and always keep the air flowing down with the grain of the hair. You can take sections if needed to ensure the wefts are completely dry. You can apply salon professional products for volume or extra smoothness on your real hair.
- If you choose to air dry, use the magic mist and Iles serum, then brush thoroughly to prevent tangling.
I recommend letting your extensions air dry until they are just slightly damp and finishing with your blow dryer.
STYLING & GENERAL CARE
STYLING
Your extensions can be styled like normal, but always use a heat protectant before using hot tools. This means you can wear them straight, curled, in a high ponytail or in any kind of braid!
Always use salon quality products on your extensions to preserve the life of your wefts.
Your main focuses should be keeping your hair tangle free and hydrated as well as keeping any unnecessary tension off your real hair.
The extension hair holds style very well so you can usually just touch up your style on your front pieces and the top of your hair throughout the week (meaning less heat on your hair and less time styling!)
SLEEPING
Before going to bed, completely brush your extensions and braid your hair or put in a loose bun.
Silk pillowcases AND a silk bonnet will change your life. Cotton pillowcases can cause frizz and split ends over time.
Do not sleep on your extensions while they’re wet, it will damage your natural hair and can cause major matting or even mold.
EXTRA CARE IN THE SUMMER
Before getting in any water (like a pool, lake, river or ocean), prep your hair by wetting it with clean water and spraying with leave-in conditioner. Comb it through and braid it. Rinse and cleanse your hair after.
Use caution when applying sunscreen - most sunscreens contain chemicals that will cause discoloration in your wefts that is difficult to remove. USE A MINERAL-BASED SUNSCREEN to avoid ruining your extensions.
I recommend using a mineral- based sunscreen and try to avoid getting any in your extensions.
